5:12 pm - Physiology Midterm
|
|
So I did a midterm for a different course on Wednesday. 98% this time. I wonder how long I can keep this over-90 mark streak going?

10:52 pm - Anatomy Midterm
|
Well, I did my anatomy midterm yesterday, and I got my mark today.
All I can ask is, where's the other 6%? Yep, 94%. Not too shabby, I suppose.

So...school.
Hm.
I'm having a great time, first of all. I love my courses, although some of them seem like learning by firehose, although I'm not having any trouble keeping up. It helps that I'm actually really interested in the subject matter, I guess.
My favourite course so far is probably Regional Anatomy (which, incidentally, is also the most brutal, work-wise. Go figure), but I don't think I actually have a "Least Favourite" class, which is a new experience for me.
Oh well. I'm tired, and I'm going to bed. G'night, all.

12:18 pm - Odd...
|
I'm feeling an odd mix of excitement and frustration today. Excitement because I'm finally being taken seriously about my lung issues (I had a pulmonary function test last week, and it showed that I do NOT have asthma, so I'm seeing a respirologist at the end of September).
Frustration, because the bureaucrats running the EI (that's Employment Insurance, kind of like UI in the USA) program here apparently have decided to take an extra-long time processing my last report (EI recipients have to report bi-weekly that we're looking for work and employable). I honestly reported that I took a course that was one hour longer during the week I took the course than they usually allow, even though it was during the evening on a Friday and all day on a Saturday, when it's not mandatory that I be looking for work. All told, the course was 3 days long, totalling 19 hours over one weekend, and I needed to take the course to get into the program (which has already been approved by EI) I'm starting on the 31st.
I called them today, to see what the hell was going on. Apparently they have until September 8th to decide whether I'll get my benefits for August 2nd to the 15th or not, and I can't file a report for the next one until that's cleared up. Nice, eh? Gotta love bureaucracy.
In other (better) news:
I got my final grade for the prep course I took. 98%!

1:44 pm - News!
|
Well...interesting news since my last post.
1. I'm not getting the Sportster after all. The step-father flaked again, and I'm not really all that surprised, to be honest. That bike is his baby, and I can't really fault him for waffling on it.
2. I got my Second Career funding. For those not in the know, or who have forgotten, Second Career is an Ontario Provincial Government initiative for people who have been laid off from their jobs to go back to school and get trained for a better career in a field with a better outlook. I got the full amount, I think. $28,000. Woohoo!
3. I got called back to work. Fortunately for me, they called after I got the call saying I was approved for Second Career. Unfortunately, however, it was only an hour after the first call. I don't think I have to go back to work to keep getting EI benefits because of SC, but I wasn't sure, so I called the government. It seems that government workers are some of the most absolutely useless retards on the face of the planet, because they didn't know either. Glad to see that our glorious leaders have no fucking clue what they're doing - it means that nothing has really changed lately.

12:49 pm - Sportster Dreams Can Come True
|
Regarding that last post I made of my dream bike, that beautiful (but ultimately just too expensive) Yamaha MT-01:
Damn, that's still a gorgeous piece of machinery, but it'll have to wait for a while. I just agreed to buy my stepdad's HD Sportster 883 from him. At least now I'll be able to wear my Harley shirts without feeling somewhat like a poseur.
I guess I should sell the other one...how much is an '06 Kawasaki KLR650 worth, anyway? Meh - it's not that important...I can't wait to ride a Harley!
It looks a great deal like this:

So, uh....I almost traded my motorcycle in today. On this:

It'd only be maybe another 7 grand on top of what my bike is worth (around 3). If the whole school thing doesn't work out....well, we'll see.

Seriously, if you're into fantasy even in the slightest, check it out...it is one twisted, yet thoroughly enjoyable fwoosh*-fest.
*Also, fwoom. Read the comic from strip one, all will be explained.

2:43 am - Long time, no post
|
Well, this is interesting....some Canadian MPs are suggesting that the Canadian Olympic team should incorporate sealskin into their team uniforms for the 2010 winter Olympics. Cue vegan bitching: 3... 2... 1...
Personally, I'd like to get some sealskin clothing for myself - or make it. Anyone know where a guy can buy seal skins? It'd make a great winter coat!

10:31 pm - Long time, no (serious) writings....
|
So, I have some good news, and some interesting news...
Interesting news first: Apparently I have won a contest. Yes, it's true. I have won a basket full of $500 worth of Clarins beauty products. I guess my brother's girlfriend can have it...
Yes, yes...it's very funny. I entered the contest on a lark, never guessing that I'd actually win. Maybe it'll be their men's stuff....? Whatever. I suppose I could always sell it...hm.
Now for the good news: I've finally got a doctor to refer me to a geneticist for DNA testing for CF. Finally. I suppose it helped that I had a letter from a clinical geneticist (I saw her for something completely different) saying I should probably get tested, but I misplaced that letter not long after I got it. That was 10 years ago, and I just found it in a bunch of old paperwork I was going through to see what I could throw out. I've been trying to get tested for years now, but without that letter the doctors would look at me and say "You don't have CF. It's asthma." Even though, you know, none of the meds they gave me ever did anything [except the last one - it was twice the usual maximum dose of Advair (1000 mcg/day), and that just hurt my chest more]. So I guess I'll get a phone call when the test comes up. It's about fuckin' time!

11:20 am - What Big Cat Are You?
|
| You Are a Lynx | You are a quiet observer of the world around you. Your wisdom comes from listening carefully. You've always been extra sensitive and aware. And it's made it difficult for you to fit in.
You see past people's outward personas. You are able to penetrate a stranger's soul. What you've learned about people is both beautiful and ugly. And you keep these secrets to yourself. |
Hmm...a lynx isn't very big...

Your result for Which Were Animal Would You Be? Test...
You are a Were-Tiger!60% tiger, 50% wolf, 20% horse, 20% rat, 30% leopard, 20% fox and 50% bear!
Tigers are definitely predators. They love to hunt and mostly hunt at night. They are also, for the most part, solitary animals, but they will definitely share a kill with other tigers. Tigers don't live by set rules. Sometimes they avoid each other, sometimes they will work together to kill. They don't like feeling boxed in and will make sure that others know their territory. Tigers are monogamous, but they don't have to be around their mates all the time. They meet up when the mating instinct hits them. As a were-tiger you are going to be hunting during the night. You'll definitely be going after live prey and enjoy every minute of your hunt. Happy hunting! Take Which Were Animal Would You Be? Test at HelloQuizzy
